Amos Nachoum
He was originally born in Israel. After serving 12 years in the Israeli special forces, he let his dreams carry him away to explore the world where he fell in love with diving and photography. Presently Amos resides in San Francisco. From here he manages his triple duties as Adventure Editor of Fathoms Magazine, freelance photographer specializing in big animals and extreme diving photography, and as an expedition leader of his own travel company BigAnimals Photography Expeditions. Amos' photography and photo essays have been published in National Geographic, Time, Conde nast Traveler, Outside, Men's Journal, Outdoor Photographer and all of the diving magazines in the USA, Europe and Japan. For the first time in the dive travel industry, Amos has designed and will lead five diving & photography expeditions in a course of the next two years to the North Pole, High Arctic and Antarctica. When asked why go so far North or South? Why now? he answered: "Because there is water there and if there is water, there is wildlife. Perhaps some species have never been identified or photographed. The edges of the earth were out of reach for most of us, only because we did not have the equipment and the means to go there. That is not the case anymore. It is only our perception that hold us back.
